| The toilet: the Greatest Innovation of Man's New Age of Glory. The dawn of the modern era has historically been marked by various inventions or events, (the wheel, printing press, industrial revolution, atomic bomb, what have you) but to the true student of culture and history, the modern plumbing system takes the proverbial cake. (Insert pun here) However, this wonder of porcelain is usually shunned in American pop culture, shut away in a dank room, away from the glitz and glamour and love of the ignorant masses. Apparently, the first time a toilet was shown in theaters was in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic Psycho. I, for one, am ashamed of the injustices done to this inoffensive creature, and propose to change this. |
